Who We Are
Poverty Alleviation and Support for People Living With HIV/AIDS (PASPWA) is a non-profit making entity founded in Limpopo Province in 2003 and registered in March 2004 in South Africa with a motive to address social illnesses and implementing Health programmes such as providing care and support to PLHIV, running Health Promotion programmes, implementing Integrated Access to Care and Treatment (I ACT) – Adherence Clubs, curbing the spread of the HI virus, preventing new infections and poverty alleviation in communities.
With a staff of committed professionals, PASPWA has been able to impact their areas in a spectrum of ways. Projects, which take place within our programme teams, reach a full range of beneficiaries such as children, the elderly, health workers, social workers, farm workers, persons infected and affected by HIV and AIDS and the rural communities. The beneficiaries are central to all activities carried out by our organization, and PASPWA remains committed to ensuring that the communities maintain ownership of all health and social developments undertaken by PASPWA in collaboration with public and private stakeholders and community leaders.
The activities carried out by PASPWA correspond and are guided with national plans and strategies, and align specifically with tenets of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and the HIV and AIDS, STI’s and TB (2017-2022). PASPWA also coordinates with, aligns and contributes to Provincial and District Implementation Plans with relevant government departments.
Through these programmes and activities, PASPWA has reached over 150 villages in the surrounding region, with professional facilitators carrying out family visits to more than 50 000 homes each year.
